You know, it’s interesting. I spent my childhood identifying as “a Marvel kid”. I felt at the time that Marvel told stories about real, human, relateable characters. And even now that I’m grown I see a lot of the choices DC makes as being ignorant and disappointingly pro-status-quo. But still, I have substantially more DC books on my book shelf, in my unread queue, and on my wishlist. Exponentially more.
I’m not really sure what happened there. I grew out of a lot of the characters I loved as a child, on both sides of the big two. But now I can’t for the life of me think of many Marvel stories that I want to read. I would love to have a less lop-sided collection, I certainly don’t have anything against Marvel. But the things that excite me the most in comics are almost exclusively DC.
